I enjoy a beautiful arm of gemstone bracelets, and purchasing genuine gemstones is a delight. At the same time, traveling makes it more unique and special. A trip to the beautiful Dutch-Caribbean paradise of Curacao, off the coast of Venezuela, ignited my desire to fill my arm with g bracelets. It's the destination where I bought the bulk of my bracelets. After that, I obtained bracelets from Indonesia, Egypt, Greece, and Morocco. An arm decorated with beautiful jewelry reminds me of my travels and intentions.
Origins
In my research, I read that in Egypt, the archeological found evidence that around 4000 BC, the Egyptians made gemstone jewelry using lapis lazuli and amethyst. Amethyst was a favorite with the pharaohs; it bought protection from those who wore the stone from evil and misfortune. It was often carved into the shape of a god or sacred animal and worn as an amulet. This information intrigued me because Egypt is one of my favorite countries, and amethyst is my birthstone.
How to Buy Quality Stones
All gemstones are not equal. A gemstone is a mineral crystal, usually sourced from the Earth millions to billions of years ago. The stones appear naturally in all the rainbow colors; there are 200 different natural gemstones. The difference in gemstone colors is based on the trace elements they contain. Stones are rough and irregular naturally; however, they are carved and polished into specific shapes after being sourced. Fake and genuine gemstones differ in their value, appearance, and properties. There are occasions when natural gemstones are treated or enhanced to improve their appearance. So here are three tips for buying authentic gemstone bracelets when traveling:
Learn about gemstone authenticity;
Before traveling, research to determine if the destination has any gemstone markets or districts; and
Inspect the bracelet: Examine the gemstone bracelet closely to ensure it meets your expectations.
The Power of Gemstone Bracelets
It is the belief that gemstones can enhance or influence certain aspects of a person's life, such as their health, emotions, or spiritual well-being. And wearing certain bracelets, such as a Rose Quartz, reduces anxiety and extends that intention as long as you wear it. However, the power of gemstones lies in personal and cultural beliefs.
How To Care For My Gemstone Bracelets
Gemstones can absorb energies from the environment as they come in contact with other stones, objects, or people. So to remove negative energies, especially after purchase, clean them before you start wearing them. Afterward, it depends on how often you wear your bracelet. If you wear it daily, clean it at least once a week; if you wear it occasionally, clean it every 2-3 weeks or at least once a month. It's a good idea to cleanse your gemstone bracelets to maintain good vibes. My preferred method is cleaning my bracelet with the sun, but warm water, a linen cloth, or brown rice can also be used. Check out my Youtube video to see my arm jewelry collection and how I use the sun to clean and reset my gems.
Ultimately, along with prayer, I often use my bracelet to stay calm, and my amethyst bracelet can do that for me; when traveling solo, wearing my tiger's eye bracelet grounds and protects me. Gemstones only have the power you give them; for me, they're aesthetically pleasing and similar to a tickler; and serve as reminders of my travels and generate good energies and protect me from harmful energies.
